Oh, what I can do with SUPER-GLUE!

In the mall a few days ago, David saw a large "Lightening McQueen" (Disney/Pixar movie) backpack. If you know my son, you know that he is obsessed with all things cars. Unfortunately, the backpack was too large for him, and a little too expensive for us--beside the fact that he already had a new little black backpack ($6 Walmart bargain!).

Fortunately, this morning I was able to find some inexpensive craft pieces (meant to make magnets) for a few dollars that I was able to super-glue to his backpack. (Though, who knows how long it will last!) I also put his name on the top with iron-ons. I'm undecided though, if I should have done that. Is it a security risk? What do you think? Posted by Picasa

Big, fluffy, light...no, not Belgian Waffles

The temperature is in the teens-to-20's today. About an hour ago the snow started to fall. It is one of those storms of neverending flurries of giant snowflakes, which are already covering most of the previously bare ground. I hope that it sticks to everything! There is nothing like stepping out into a completely fresh snow-covered world.

It's the type of day to curl up in a quilt with a nice cup of hot chocolate and watch the soothing snowflakes fall. I've been doing a bit of that--sans hot chocolate. But now, I've got to get back to the laundry...and that's OK.

I've got the blues...

Tomorrow morning I was to fly with Jonathan to Dallas for a weekend getaway compliments of McKinsey & Company, but this morning David has a fever, and he has transformed into some kind of psychotic grumpy toddler creature. So, instead of packing I'm sitting here listening to slow music. Yes, "Moonlight Sonata" was in the mix, now it's "Forever Young". (Oh, how I love iTunes!) So, back to my melancholy, yes, my melancholy. So I miss out on a posh hotel, fine dining, fancy desserts, a massage, manicure/pedicure, free babysitting, and a break from my adorable energizer-bunny toddler, who needs that?

I should think of what the six-fingered man would say, at least I have my health...I think. Though, I don't know how long that will last since when David is really cranky he likes to cough hard with his mouth open as wide as possible directly into my face.

Ah, me! Will Jonathan miss me when he is out golfing, rooting for the Mavericks, cracking into his Creme Brulee, or wiping the fresh whipped creme from his nose after a bite of perfectly fluffy Belgian Waffle? Will I survive the weekend, or be found half-eaten by my wild children? The drama! THE DRAMA!

I should blog more often. It's fun making fun of myself.

P.S. This photo is cropped from the new family photos that we just had taken, but I'm not putting them on the website until after Christmas--so that you will be somewhat surprised when you see your gifts. (Wry grin goes here)

Grandmother & Grandpa Stone come to visit!

Jonathan's parents have been visiting us for the last week and a half, and it was wonderful. We were able to spend a lot of time talking, playing, and "playing" (as in we went to see three productions by the Royal Shakespearean Company: The Tempest, Julius Caesar, Anthony & Cleopatra). Here David was escaping from Grandpa's strong grasp:

And here, Audrey, David, and Spencer took a trip with Grandmother to the Detroit Temple. This was David and Spencer's first time ever visiting a temple.

Spencer milestone

Yesterday morning, Spencer rolled over for the first time. By the end of the day, he was rolling over-and-over across the floor. He is a superstar! He is also a thumb-sucker as shown here.

Trick-or-Treat

Here are just a few photos from our Halloween this evening:

Mother and Dad (Jonathan's parents) arrived safely this evening to visit us for the next week and a half. We are very excited for their visit. Slight oversight, we didn't get any photos of Spencer tonight in his costume. He was there in his costume. However, we do have photos of him from the Halloween Carnival, so hopefully he will forgive us one day.

Ward Halloween Carnival

Saturday was our annual Ward Halloween Carnival, below is a link to some photos taken from it. David is a "Lightning McQueen Racecar Driver" and Spencer is "Tigger". The little boy dressed as a tree in the photos with David is his new best friend, Jacob.

New place for photos

We've been having difficulties uploading our photos to Blogger through Picasa, so as a temporary (and possibly permanent) solution, we have uploaded recent photos of Eric's visit and a family outing to Picasa Web Albums. You can find our public photo albums at http://picasaweb.google.com/jrstonehenge

Here are links to the two galleries:

Fall in Ann Arbor

Fall in Ann Arbor is a glorious thing to behold. The colors now are so varied and beautiful. Jonathan said that it reminds him of the New England area where he spent much of his youth. This photo was taken over a week ago before my morning walk with the boys. Posted by Picasa

David Words

I thought I would take a minute to share a couple of cute things that David has said. In our recent quest for 100% potty training, I created a chart whereby David needs to place stickers on five empty squares to receive a reward. (One perfect bathroom session equals one sticker.) The rewards are: a bite-size candy bar, an outdoor bubble-blowing experience, a bowl of popcorn, and a trip to the slide. However, in the last few days he has come down with a cold, so in order to bribe him to take his medicine, we offer him a chocolate bar (the bite-size candybar reward) for swallowing the medicine down. He calls these "chocky bars".

This morning, David arose in the wee hours of dawn to use the bathroom. After spending some time in the bathroom, we called in to him, "David, are you finished?"

He said, "Need help!"

"What do you need help with?" We asked.

"My shorts are upside up."

It is always nice to wake up laughing in the morning, even if it is to simply turn a pair of shorts inside out.

Good Mommy Days

The last few weeks I've been feeling like a less than fabulous Mommy. Spencer gets a lot of positive attention, David gets a lot of negative attention. This is due to various factors including sleep deprivation, potty training, sibling jealousy, etc. So, I have been making an effort over the last few days to be more of my former self, (new baby time is rough!) and I am happy to say that the last couple of days, I have been a great Mommy. The photo here was on our old website, but it reminds me of my good days so I'm posting it again here. (It was taken 8/26/06.)

Here is our most recent family photo, taken August 7, 2006 - the date that Spencer was blessed.

P.S. For those seeing us for the first time in a while, yes, Audrey colored her hair brown.

We've made a change!

We have decided to switch from the very powerful, configurable Movable Type blogging software to the very simple Blogger online service. This will save us a lot of time when posting pictures, which is pretty much all we do anyway!

If you want to see anything from our old blog, there is a link to an archived version of it on the right.
